IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) Courses
This IICRC-accredited Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course is designed to provide basic education for technicians and other materially interested parties in the science and practice of water damage restoration. This course will cover extraction, basic containment and basic mold procedures. This course is designed to teach non-restoration personnel that perform remediation work to give them a better concept of water damage, its effects and techniques for drying of structures. This course will give residential and commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows and contamination such as mold.

The course instructor was Chris and he was great, the course was great. The issue was I was on a course for imperial measurements, cubic feet. Gallons etc and my test was in metric with cubic metres and litres. This was extremely frustrating. Considering I live in Canada and my ICRC profile shows this I am not sure how this happened. I was not the only one to experience this. My staff member was also subject to this situation. It causes some panic and anxiety in the exam situation but even though this happened to us both we still passed. Something you need to look into for sure to prevent it happening again. I am not sure why I was registered in the AU/NZ test but taught the course here in North America. Jordan P.

Chris was an amazing instructor! I definitely recommend taking his class as he is very interactive with his students and personable and makes the class fun and enjoyable. I have a hard time retaining information by just looking at a PowerPoint and reading off of it but he breaks it down section by section, gives real life scenarios and explains each area thoroughly. I have not taken the exam yet so I can state as to how much information taught will pertain to the class. I truly enjoyed and appreciate Chris. He made what should of been a very boring 3 days, into a fun and very interesting experience. I feel like I learned so much. I recently completed a WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) class through Zack Academy, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The registration process was super easy, and the course content was both thorough and engaging. However, what really made the class stand out was my instructor, Chris. Chris is hands down one of the most knowledgeable and passionate professionals I’ve ever encountered. He made complex topics easy to understand and really took the time to ensure every student was grasping the material. His enthusiasm for the subject was contagious, and it was clear he genuinely cares about helping students succeed. The class was not only informative but also fun, and I learned so much more than I expected. I thought the class was great. Very laid back, but informative / educational at the same time.
The only things I would change:
I wish it was easier to follow along in the manual, but I realize that I was probably the only one who printed it out or tried reference it at all.
Sometimes the class moved at the speed of the slowest person. Maybe keep the class moving along and stay on later for people who need a little more help with certain things.

The online class was a lot better than I expected. This was my first ever virtual/live stream class and it absolutely changed the way I feel about it. The overall class was good. Chris did a great job explaining everything thoroughly. My only take back is personally, I feel like I need more time to get the information in. Cramming it in like three days and then testing doesn’t work for me. I know I can study on my own. I would have preferred continuing the course for more days just to get more examples of stuff like dehumidification and evaporation, equilibrium, psychometric, charts, etc. But outside of that, everything went pretty well. Chris from Mitigation Academy & Consulting LLC did an excellent job introducing us to the topic of water restoration. His course was built to give his students the understanding of the topic in a systemic way. For an individual who has zero experience, I understood everything required to do my job also be dangerous to keep my team honest on the job. Most importantly, he catered to the class by creating new math related problems and going over them in detail to benefit the class.
