This Lead Supervisor/Project Monitor course meets California CDPH requirements for Supervisor/Project Monitor training. In this five-day course, students will learn how lead abatement is performed in a variety of settings. Students will also learn how to safely handle lead materials during construction projects that impact surfaces coated with lead paint. Students will also learn how to select appropriate abatement actions for varying field conditions.
Students will participate in extensive hands-on workshops where they are shown how to take personal air samples, collect paint-chips, soil and settled-dust samples. Students will also participate in an abatement workshop performing a mock abatement using manual and mechanical methods to remove paint. Students will set up containments appropriate for public and residential buildings, utilize negative air machines, HEPA-filtered vacuums, use specialized paint removal tools, and pass/fail clearance test.
