Lead Renovator Certification Initial Courses in New York
As of April 22, 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repairs, or painting (RRP) in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be Lead-Safe Certified by the EPA or an EPA-Authorized state. Individuals and firms that are not certified could face fines of up to $41,056 per day. To get certified, individuals must take this 1-day Lead RRP Training course.
This Lead Renovator Initial Certification (RRP Training) course is 8 hours in length and includes lead safety training approved by the EPA or applicable EPA-Authorized state program. Any contractor performing qualifying work on pre-1978 homes or child-occupied facilities must employ at least one Certified Renovator who has successfully completed this training. Companies must also process an application to become a Lead Safe Certified Firm. The course concludes with a certification exam.

That was why second initial training, and it was so much more interesting that the first time! Instead of reading the dry (and boring) EPA regulations, Barry was able to explain everything with his "contractor war stories" and that made the entire class very interesting... and fun! I also realized that I had missed a few key elements during my first training.
