CDPH Lead Sampling Technician Initial - CA Courses
This CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) Lead Sampling Technician Initial course provides technicians with the basic information they need to perform their work under supervision of a certified Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor in California.
This course covers a background on health risks of lead; how to conduct a visual assessment and visual examination; how to collect dust wipe, paint chip, and soil samples plus an overview of how to use an XRF analyzer. Sampling Technicians must also attend an additional 8-hour manufacturer's training before using an XRF. There is a final exam at the end of class required to pass the class, however there is no CDPH State Exam for this discipline.

The class was very engaging and informative. The instructor was energetic and engaged with us to keep us intrigued with all the material. I really enjoyed the class and the warm atmosphere from everyone involved. I did get lost at first when I got into the parking lot. Erik was a fantastic instructor. He was informative, enthusiastic, and allowed plenty of breaks for an 8-hour course all while staying on, or even ahead, of schedule. Unfortunately, this was the second time I had to take the Lead Sampling Tech Initial course due to some internal miscommunication with my company; however, this course with Erik was much more enjoyable than the first course I took elsewhere. Registering for courses with Zack Academy is very easy: from the process of locating relevant courses to the actual registration process, everything is seamless. NATEC is a great training facility and I always feel like our company gets its money's worth when we attend training events there: they are reasonably priced and conveniently located for us in So-Cal. The instructors there vary -- some are truly passionate and dedicated to the subject material they cover, and others are a little less invested, but I would say there are more effective instructors there than non-effective. In any event, they offer course materials that are very helpful, and they give you a way to stay connected to instructors after the training is over. The instructors are happy to answer any additional questions or concerns you might have. All in all, I really enjoy training events at NATEC. Even the staff are extremely personable and helpful. The best part was the off site sampling with the XRF. The female instructor was a little uptight and tended to pick on one member of the class more than any other.
