Please Note: If you are a landlord in the state of Massachusetts and you want to perform deleading work on your own pre-1978 residential property, you must take this 8-hour Moderate Risk Deleading for Homeowners course AND an 8-hour Lead Renovator (RRP) training course
Why Should You Take This Moderate Risk Deleading for Homeowners course?
The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) has made great strides toward eliminating childhood lead poisoning in Massachusetts, even though our housing stock is the second oldest in the nation. Despite this progress, hundreds of children in Massachusetts are still identified with high levels of lead in their blood each year.
The Massachusetts Lead Law requires that owners of homes built before 1978 and with children under the age of six living in them correct any lead hazards on the property. In 1994, the Lead law was amended to make it easier and less expensive for owners to delead their homes. Part of these amendments includes Encapsulation, Low Risk Deleading, Moderate Risk Deleading and Interim Controls. This course will prepare participants to apply any of these methods.
Take this 8-hour Moderate Risk Deleading for Homeowners training program for property owners and their agents who want to become authorized to perform moderate-risk deleading in the state of Massachusetts.
Who Is The Intended Audience For This Course?
This training is for property owners and their agents (employees, friends, relatives, tenants) who would like to become authorized to perform moderate-risk deleading on the owner's home(s). The training is designed to give owners and agents an understanding of the Lead Law and its requirements.
Prerequisite: You must be at least 18-years-old to participate in this training
Please Note: As a result of this course, participants will be prepared to take a written exam, administered by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. The exam is mailed to participants after completion of the course.
This course does not teach participants the carpentry skills that are needed to complete the work successfully, nor does this course allow the owner/agent to supervise others to perform the work. Only those who successfully complete this course are allowed to perform the actual work necessary for lead abatement.

Zack Academy is proud to partner with Mary Chabot Training. Please note that this is their company profile, and is not the Mary Chabot Training website.
Founded in 2000, Mary Chabot Training has provided Deleading Training Classes for property owners in MA. In 2009, it became one of the first schools certified to present the RRP training in the New England Area. It also became one of the first schools to offer the new Moderate Risk Deleading Supplement that allows contractors to work on deleading projects without the much more stringent training requirements of a licensed deleader. The school very rarely cancels training – Because MCT has its own facility, it will hold classes with a minimum of two students. Our instructors have vast experience as life-long adult education providers.
