In this Intro to TPDES Permit Program Online course, students will learn the basics of the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permitting Program. Students will learn the discharge requirements to keep construction projects in compliance with the State of Texas.
The state of Texas assumed the authority to administer the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program in Texas on Sept. 14, 1998. NPDES is a federal regulatory program to control discharges of pollutants to surface waters of the United States. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) program now has federal regulatory authority over discharges of pollutants to Texas surface water. For projects disturbing at least one (1) but no more than five (5) acres, a construction general permit is required. Educated stormwater professionals will protect the integrity of water systems by limiting pollution from industrial waste.
Geared toward self-paced learning, this course is provided completely online. Upon successful completion, students will earn a certificate valid for two (2) years and 1.5 Professional Development Hours.
