Our CA Contractor In-School Licensing course includes our online study material plus 6 days of live instruction taught by qualified and experienced instructors and covers Construction Law & Business content that will help prepare you for your state exam. Our students find the classes,taught by top industry instructors, to be beneficial in the learning process and to keep them on track with meeting their goal of becoming a licensed contractor.
Please Note: Our 4 Evening Law and Business Classes are held on a continuous rotation, one class a week for four weeks, generally from 6pm to 8pm, at your choice of over twenty-two (22) locations, PLUS:
1 Full Day of Law and Business Review
- Held on a TBD Saturday from 9am to 5pm
1 Day of Instructor Supported Trade Self-Study + Basic Math Review
- Held on a TBD Sunday from 9am to 5pm

Please Note: There will be an Initial Orientation where the six (6) total live class dates are scheduled. The Initial Orientation is also to determine if the candidate is qualified for this license. See prerequisites below:
Prerequisites - Qualifying the Prospective Student:
Must have 4 years or full time experience during the last 10 years (working in the trade in which the applicant is applying). (8 years part time can qualify as well)
Experience is defined as working as a Journeyman (someone who can work unsupervised), Forman, Supervisor, Contractor (unlicensed) and Owner/Builder.
Applicant must have someone to sign-off on (verify) their experience. This can be a General B or same trade contractor, employer, supervisor etc.
College degree holders can be granted up to 3 years of experience toward minimum requirements at the discretion of the CSLB. Time granted will depend on the degree and how relative it is to the construction industry.
Items that may prevent someone from getting their application approved: Under 24yrs of age, taxes owed, back child support or criminal history. (Further discussion will be necessary to determine if they are eligible for their license)
U.S. Residence (Social Security and U.S. ID required or a Working Visa is acceptable.
In-School Study and Computer Lab:
We offer you access to additional practice questions and study materials for both Law and Trade at our school locations. You will have access to our in-school computer lab that offers a limited number of practice exams. For additional study, online practice exams are also available.

Business Law & Trade Signature "Crash Course"
Our signature crash course method is recognized statewide and offers additional Live Instruction. Scheduled prior to your exam date, the crash course features self-study exam practice questions similar to recent state administered questions on law, business and trade. A final Law & Business exam is given that will assess your strengths and weaknesses to help target additional study in these areas so you pass the state exam the first time!
Intended Audience: All businesses or individuals who construct or alter any facility, railroad, excavation, other structure in CA must be licensed by the California State License Board (CSLB) if the total cost (labor & materials) of one or more contracts on the project is $500 or more. Contractors, including subcontractors, specialty contractors, and persons engaged in the business of home improvement must be licensed before submitting bids. License may be issued to individuals, corporations or joint ventures.

Live Scan Fee: $80 (Criminal Back round check is required)
2 year Licensing Fee: $180. (Must renew every 2 yrs)
A minimum bond of $12,500 is required: Fee starting at $160. Must obtain a quote.
Business start up fees may apply. (If the applicant decides to obtain a DBA or a Corporation Set-up)
