You will need a MA Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License if you are directly engaged or supervising anyone engaged in the construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, removal, or demolition involving any activity regulated by the Massachusetts Code for: buildings containing less than 35,000 cubic feet of enclosed space, one- and two-family dwellings or any accessory buildings thereto, irrespective of size, buildings used for farm purposes, and retaining walls less than 10 feet in height at all points along the wall as measured from the base of the footing to the top of the wall. How do I become a Licensed Contractor in Massachusetts?
After you've prepared for the exam, you will submit a registration form and schedule the exam with Prometric, the testing company sourced with conducting the Construction Supervisor License (CSL) exam on behalf of the BBRS.
After you pass, your score sheet provided at the testing center will provide further instructions for submitting for your license with BBRS.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and provide notarized proof that you have at least 3 years of experience in building construction or design, and that you have filed and paid all state taxes.
Work Experience Requirements for the Construction Supervisor License
Candidates must demonstrate 3 years of experience in building construction or design to be eligible for the exam. Work experience need not be continuous but must be full-time (40 hours per week) within the past ten years.
Exceptions:
Note: Education can not account for more than two years of experience, and union affiliation only is not acceptable as work experience. Students will have up to 6 months of course content.
