This Renovation Requirements for Asbestos and Lead in Washington State course is designed for Washington State Contractors, and includes mandatory Labor and Industries training on Asbestos Awareness, Lead in Construction Safety, and Respiratory Protection.
Course Topics:
ASBESTOS AWARENESS ~ This course is required by Labor and Industries for contractors with employees who will conduct operations which may contact or disturb asbestos in buildings. It is intended to review the source and history of asbestos, and the health effects associated with asbestos exposure. We will discuss the regulations, both federal and state, which limit the activities you may perform relating to asbestos. Finally, we will discuss recognizing damaged and deteriorated asbestos-containing materials.
LEAD IN CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ~ ALL contractors that work in pre-1978 housing are required to have EPA/Department of Commerce Certified Lead Renovators and be a Certified Firm to work in Washington State. But did you know L&I has a different set of rules when it comes to Lead based paint in Construction? This class covers what you didn’t get in your Renovator’s class. Includes a sample Lead in Construction Written safety plan.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION ~ All employers who require or allow employees to use respirators must provide training, a medical evaluation and a fit-test insuring proper sizing of respirators. This class covers all three elements in addition to basic respirator use and limitations, along with cleaning and maintenance. Class includes a free Respiratory Protection Written Plan.
