The RESNET HERS rating system has been used to verify the energy performance of over 1 million new homes. Learn the theory and science behind a HERS rating and how a HERS Rater looks at the home, evaluates its design and construction without taking the full HERS Rater training. Experience a complete from-plans rating directly using the industry’s most used computer modeling software, REM/Rate.
The HERS Rater uses a set of guiding principles, computer modeling, diagnostic testing, and inspections to create a HERS index for a home. The HERS index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy- efficiency is measured. The HERS Index and HERS Rater inspections are being used by an increasing number of builders to verify for green building programs such as ENERGY STAR and code compliance under the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
As a designer this HERS Designer course will arm you with the tools to help your builder clients achieve their stated goals. It will align your services with the builders HERS Rater and create a more cohesive team better suited to meet your builder client’s needs.
Most importantly, it will give you thorough demonstration of how a HERS Rater evaluates a set of plans. In this course we’ll complete a from-plans rating using the industry’s most used computer modeling software REM/Rate.
