Why Should You Take This RESNET Combustion Safety Testing course?
The health and safety of the home energy auditor’s clients should be the top priority when developing work scopes for a home. The changes that are made to the building enclosure, along with air flows in and through a home can have negative impacts on combustion appliances. Understanding this relationship is step one. Understanding how to test combustion appliances to find limits of safe operation is step two.
HERS Raters and Rating Field Inspectors are required to pass the RESNET Combustion Safety & Work Scope Written Exam and the RESCaz Simulated Practical Exam before December 31, 2016 in order to maintain their Rater Certification.
This requirement extends to ENERGY STAR Version 3 homes in accordance with the HVAC System Quality Installation Rater Checklist as well as to EnergySmart Contractor projects. Field training is required for certified HERS Raters unless they hold a current BPI Building Analyst Certification.
