Why Should You Take This Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) Contemporary Leadership Online Anytime Series?
This Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) Contemporary Leadership Online Anytime series is for busy professionals wanting to become leaders in the building industry and who wish to stay competitive in the field. You can now earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through a self-paced, on-demand, contemporary webinar series that presents cutting-edge information about the green industry by luminaries in the field.
Continuing Education Opportunities: Upon completion of each webinar, participants will be eligible for CEUs from AIA (HSW), GBCI, ILFI, and IDCEC (HSW), as well as APA for Integrative Process. Participants can also use their participation in the webinars towards completion of the classroom-based SBA Program. This series, which includes five one-unit webinars (approx. 1 hour each), is a collection of dynamic presentations that has been developed by and for innovators in the green building world, covering trending and timeless issues that are critical to sustainable building practitioners: integrative process, life-centered design, plug load energy efficiency, high performance building assemblies, and low-carbon building.
The Five Sessions Include:
Integrative Process:
An integrative process consistently produces cost-effective solutions, higher performance, healthier living systems, elegant design, reduced time to market, and is a heck of a lot more fun and less frustrating. So why is it the exception rather than the rule? This course employs case studies to illustrate the integrative process—with its focus on purpose, discovery, and interrelationships—while demonstrating its inherent efficiency, effectiveness...and excitement!
Life-Centered Design:
There's more to ecological building than doing less harm. You'll learn the ten things we human organisms crave from our surroundings so that you can create built environments that bring us back into harmony with the rest of nature — a crucial step in reviving the biosphere.
Are You Plugged In? The Critical Role of Electrical Loads in High-Efficiency Buildings:
In this presentation, Chris Calwell will be lecturing on the subject of energy efficient plug loads — the choices occupants make with regard to lighting, appliances and consumer electronics in the home.
Wet and Wild, or Safe and Dry? High Performance Building Assemblies:
Heat dries them out, so the more we manage energy flows through our building assemblies, the more we need to manage moisture on, in, and through those same assemblies. We will quickly cover just how heat and moisture can move in building assemblies, focus on how to manage both, and learn what tools are available to evaluate or predict hygrothermal performance of building assemblies.
Low Carbon Building: Getting to Real Zero:
What good is a "Net-Zero" building if just the act of making it dumps a huge load of CO2 into the air? The urgency of climate disruption demands that we reduce impacts now, not slowly over the next 50 years. Here we will look beyond reducing operating energy to also reducing the effects of construction and material choices.
