This Lead Project Design Consultant course meets State of Maine training requirements for those individuals that will prepare abatement project designs, occupant protection plans, and abatement reports pursuant to 40 CFR 745.226.
A Lead Project Designer is a certified individual who after reviewing inspections and all possible methods of abatement, designs a plan to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards in a residential dwelling or child-occupied facility. The project designer designs the blueprint for the project and oversees all activities.
This is a 2-day, 16-hour course providing certification to develop a Lead Hazard Control Plan by Interpreting Risk Assessment or Inspection Reports. Plans include Notification Requirements, Occupant Protection, Abatement Methods, Control Strategies, Clean-up Procedures, Clearance Protocols, and writing a Lead Abatement Report.

Examination Requirements
Applicants must attain a score of 70% or higher on the Maine Lead Services Examination, or other third party exam as approved under the provisions of section 8.H by the Department, in the discipline for which they are requesting certification. Except for design consultant candidates, applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in a hands-on skills assessment which is given during the discipline-specific training course.
