Corporate Training By Zack Academy - Lead Renovator Certification Refresher - Seagull

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This Lead Renovator Refresher course is accepted for renewal of your existing valid certification for 5 years in most states! Many EPA-Authorized states require RRP refresher training every 3 years.

Certified Lead-safe Renovators are required to complete the refresher training prior to the expiration date of their original certification or start over by taking an initial course.

BETTER THAN ONLINE TRAINING!
Certification is issued on the spot.  No mail and no waiting!

This 4-hour Refresher Course is only for individuals who have previously completed the Lead Renovator Initial Certification in compliance with the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule. It is one of the most widely approved or accepted courses in the country.

Seagull training differs from most. The “classroom” portions of the course are presented on video.  Instead of watching a trainer pull their suspenders while reading endless Powerpoints, Seagull has visualized the required model student manual. Humans remember about 20% of what they hear and 80% of what they see.  Thus, the best training is the most visual.  Seagull provides the most visual course available on the market.  Seagull courses aren’t as much about words, as they are about the actual work.  Seagull students leave their training with a complete visualization of safe lead renovation work.

This 4 hour course is NOT all video.  Each student participates, not observes, in 45 minutes of hands-on activities led by a live interactive trainer. Usually Seagull's hands-on portion of class is a one-on-one, interactive experience.

Regardless of where, how, or by whom a student is trained, many don’t need to apply any of the techniques from this course for months, sometimes years.  By that time most have completely forgotten everything and lost their manual.  Seagull is the only provider that offers free 24/7 consulting for all of its students after the course. Previous students frequently send jobsite photos and are verbally walked through the needed protocol, step-by step.  In this fashion, students have access to vastly more information than could possibly fit into any 4-hour course.

Individual certifications are issued and given to students at the end of the course to those students who attend, and pass a short quiz along with a skills assessment.

More about the Lead Renovator, Repair, and Painting Rule:

Effective April 22, 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repairs, or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be Lead Safe Certified with the EPA or EPA-authorized lead program. Individuals and firms that are not certified could face fines of up to $37,500 per day.

The RRP law applies if your project disturbs:

  • More than 6 square feet of interior painted surface AND/OR
  • More than 20 square feet of exterior painted surface

Companies performing this type of work must be registered as a Lead Safe Firm with the EPA ($300 fee) or an EPA-authorized state (fees vary), and at least one person on the actual job site must be a Certified Renovator, which is achieved by taking the 8-hour Lead Renovator Initial Certification Course.  Renewal of this training course is required every 5 years by the EPA. Individuals certified in an EPA-authorized state may be required to renew earlier than every 5 years, so check with your state Lead Based Paint regulation program for details.
