This 8-hour Vermont Lead Renovator RRP Initial certification course covers proper procedures for dealing with lead-based paint in renovation, repair, and painting projects. This certification is mandatory for individuals in Vermont performing work that falls under the Vermont Lead Renovation, Repair, Painting, and Maintenance (RRPM) rule.
In October 2022, the State of Vermont received authorization from the US EPA to enforce the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. In order to perform lead-safe renovation or painting work on a pre-1978 residence or child-occupied facilities in the State of Vermont, contractors, painters and other professionals must be licensed.

- Successfully complete the 8-hour Certified Lead Renovator Initial Course
- Complete the 2-hour online Vermont Inspection, Repair and Cleaning (IRC) Practices Course and review "What Workers Need to Know About Vermont's RRPM Regulations"

Renewal Requirements
The RRP initial course certificate and IRC certificate are both valid for five years. After that, workers must complete RRP refresher training and retake the IRC course prior to their expiration date. Vermont also accepts the 4-hour EPA online RRP refresher course which is valid for 3 years and can be completed every other renewal period.
The Vermont Lead-Safe Supervisor license is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. The Vermont Lead-Safe Firm license is valid for five years and must be renewed before the expiration date.
