Please Note: THIS EXAM PREP COURSE IS FULLY UPDATED FOR LEED VERSION 4.0!
This 4-part online training series is designed to provide an intensive and comprehensive review of the knowledge areas required for success on the exam. It is intended to bridge the gaps between other exam preparation resources, such as the LEED BD+C Reference Guide and LEED AP BD+C Study Guide, and provide interpretation and enhanced understanding of key information contained in these resources. To ensure that you can fulfill your needs as you prepare for the exam, these resources provide you with a variety of study tools, including individual and group learning activities, as well as review and practice questions that use the same format as those you will find on the actual exam.
Our instructors will share firsthand in-the-field experience in the successful implementation of LEED projects to bring the requirements to life for participants. This training series will include a review of the key elements of each prerequisite and credit in the rating system and will use presentation and project examples to aid in understanding of concepts and retention of critical information. In addition to copies of the presentation materials, the handouts will contain supplemental study materials. Throughout the four-part course, the instructors will present sample exam questions to encourage questions and enhance knowledge retention.

Course Outline:
LEED BD+C Training Session 1
Introduction/Integrative Design/Location & Transportation/Sustainable Sites
This session provides an introduction to LEED basics, sustainability, accreditation overview, and LEED rating systems. The instructor will review project team coordination & integrated project delivery as well as certification processes and the three exam areas — recognition, application, and analysis. The session will also cover identification of the key components of the LEED for Green Building Design + Construction rating system and sustainable sites.
LEED BD+C Training Session 2
Water Efficiency/Energy & Atmosphere
The Water Efficiency (WE) section addresses water holistically, looking at indoor use, outdoor use, specialized uses, and metering. The section reviews an "efficiency first" approach to water conservation. The water efficiency category comprises three major components: indoor water (used by fixtures, appliances, and processes, such as cooling, irrigation water, and water metering. The Energy and Atmosphere section covers energy from a holistic perspective, addressing energy use reduction, energy-efficient design strategies, and renewable energy sources. Energy efficiency in a green building starts with a focus on design that reduces overall energy needs, such as building orientation and glazing selection, and the choice of climate-appropriate building materials.
LEED BD+C Training Session 3
Materials & Resources
The Materials and Resources session focuses on minimizing the embodied energy and other impacts associated with the extraction, processing, transport, maintenance, and disposal of building materials. This session covers the requirements for design to support a life-cycle approach that improves performance and promotes resource efficiency. Instructors will review each requirement by identifying a specific action that fits into the larger context of a life-cycle approach to embodied impact reduction.
LEED BD+C Training Session 4
Indoor Environmental Quality/Innovation & Regional Priority
This last training session addresses requirements relative to indoor air quality and thermal, visual, and acoustic comfort. The instructors will cover traditional approaches, such as ventilation and thermal control, along with emerging design strategies, including a holistic, emissions-based approach, source control and monitoring for user-determined contaminants, requirements for lighting quality, and advanced lighting metrics.
