This 1-Hour Ergonomics (SST-206) course meets training requirements for the New York City Department of Buildings. This course counts toward a Site Safety Training (SST) certificate, which is required by Local Law 196 to do work on certain construction sites. In this course, students will learn about important safety information on ergonomics as it relates to worksite safety.
In construction, ergonomics encompasses the preventative safety techniques which protect against musculoskeletal injuries. When workers unsafely lift heavy equipment, they can seriously injure themselves. Back, shoulder, neck, and arm injuries are all common outcomes of improper ergonomics training.
With this course, students will learn how to identify and prevent ergonomic hazards on the worksite. Upon successful completion of this course and final exam, students will earn one hour of training toward their Site Safety certificate.
