The 32-Hour Lift Director course is NYC Department of Buildings prerequisite for registration as a Lift Director and licensure as a Master Rigger. The student must successfully complete a lift director training course that is at least 32 hours in length as mandated by 28-404.3.1 Section of the New York City Administrative. The Lift Director's role is discussed, as well as identifying and addressing hazards, determining appropriate matting/cribbing, dealing with environmental conditions and addressing associated hazards.
When performing lifting operations, the student will identify and manage hazards related to the ground and the surface. Students will be able to recognize and control the risks related to transportation and site access. Students will understand the matting and cribbing needed for crane use. Students will recognize and handle any hazards associated with transmission towers and power lines. Student will be capable of managing any environmental problems that could negatively affect lifting operations. Students will comprehend the risks associated with lifting.
