The 8-Hour Master Rigger Renewal course allows you to complete the 8 hours of continuing education required every three years when renewing your Master Riggers License with the Department of Buildings. The renewal course includes subject matter such as inspection, maintenance, repair, use, installation, hazards associated with, and the relevant sections of the building code and industry practice with regards to:
-Rigging methods, hardware, and equipment;
-Hoisting machines, including cranes and derricks;
-Climber/tower crane assembly, jumping, and disassembly;
-Suspended scaffolds;
-Critical picks; and
-Fall hazards and fall protection
Additionally, attendees will have a forum to exchange their experiences and discuss the most recent changes in the rigging industry.
Intended Audience
This course is intended for students to complete their continuing education requirements per the DOB to renew their Master Rigger license.
Prerequisites: Effective July 1, 2015, to renew a Master Riggers License, the applicant must complete 8 hours of refresher training as mandated by Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York §104-06 Continuing Education requirements.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
-Identify rigging equipment and its hazards
-Discuss common causes of rigging accidents based on case studies
-Outline differences between OSHA and NYC DOB scaffold regulations and their sources
-Develop skills necessary to understand rigging math and calculations
-Perform rigging inspections using provided rigging principals
-Identify critical picks and check rigging paperwork as 1 RCNY 104-20, 1 RCNY 104-21, 1 RCNY 104-22
-Discuss common working platforms and safety protocols for lifting/lowering loads
This course is in compliance with Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York §104-06 Continuing Education requirements.
Completion of the Course
100% attendance for the course and active participation in learning activities including hands-on exercises and review quiz is required to receive a certificate of completion.
Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Students who miss time from any individual session or miss one or more sessions of any rigging course must reschedule and attend the full training course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive an 8 Hour Master Rigger renewal course completion certificate that will be valid for 3 years.
Class meets for 8 hours with a minimum of 10 minute breaks every two hours and a half hour lunch break.
