COURSE DESCRIPTION

This NYC DOB-approved 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher Training course must be completed to renew the Site Safety Manager license, and can also be used to renew the Site Safety Coordinator certificate and the Construction Superintendent registration. This course is a comprehensive presentation of Chapter 33 and the Rules of the City of New York that pertains to public protection. During the training, students will review the hazards of working in the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site

Per the DOB’s recent amendment to section 104-06 of the Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York, effective as of 5/25/2017, a Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, or Construction Superintendent must complete a Department approved 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher Training Course within 1 year prior to their license or certificate expiration.

This course is a renewal requirement for NYC Department of Buildings Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, or Construction Superintendents. Site Safety Manager license holders must successfully complete this course within 1 year prior to renewing their license, which expires every 3 years. Site Safety Coordinator certificate holders must successfully complete this course every year, as the NYC DOB requires annual renewal of the coordinator certification.

  • NY Site Safety Coordinators within 1 year of expiration (must renew annually)
  • NY Construction Superintendents within 1 year of expiration (must renew every 3 years)

  • Compare roles and responsibilities of New York City Department of Buildings licensed site safety professionals
  • Recognize which rules and regulations were promulgated after serious construction accidents in New York City
  • Identify safety procedures to protect public and property during construction and demolition operations in New York City
  • Define construction fire protection and prevention methods that comply with the New York City Fire Code
  • Describe communication procedures between New York City Department of Buildings and licensed site safety professionals
  • Distinguish between the OSHA standards and New York City Department of Buildings Chapter 33 regulations
