Why Should You Take This Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Course?
The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training (CSFSM) will fulfill the training requirements for Fire Safety Manager under the new regulation of the New York City Fire Safety Department. The training will consist of the construction site fire safety requirements and responsibilities of the fire safety manager as well as an introduction to FDNY fire code and fire code for construction sites. Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) is responsible for ensuring that construction, alteration, and demolition work at a construction site is conducted in compliance with the requirements of the Fire Code. Upon successful completion of the course and the examination, students will receive a certificate. The student can then file for the FDNY Certificate of Fitness. CSFSM course certificates are valid for one year.
New York City Fire Code Chapter 14 Section 1408, now requires that a Fire Safety Manager be present at construction projects that require a Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator. Any Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator designated as the Fire Safety Manager at a major building must comply with the new training requirement - Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Training.
Fire Safety Manager's Roles and Responsibilities:
FDNY Certificate of Fitness:
Upon successful completion of the course, each student has up to 1 year to submit all paperwork and fee to the FDNY. FDNY will review applications and will determine if the student qualifies for the certificate of fitness. Qualified applicants will be required to take a Computer Based Test (CBT) at FDNY headquarters.

Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites to attend the course, however there are eligibility requirements for the Examination for Certificate of Fitness for Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) (S-56). Applicants must satisfy at least one of the experience requirements listed below and be able to provide necessary documentation:
The NYC Fire Department will accept applications with satisfactory proof of documentation for pre-approval before attending the training if you are not sure of your eligibility.
