Why Should You Take This OSHA Rigging Fundamentals Course?
This OSHA Rigging Fundamentals program ensures that your employees are properly trained in the safe and required practices of rigging cranes. This course has been developed for those workers in charge of rigging loads for crane operation, and covers the knowledge needed by a worker to safely and properly perform the many tasks required of a rigger. The rigger will recognize common sling hitch types and have the ability to calculate tensions based on sling angles of symmetric loads. The rigger will also learn pre-use inspection techniques that are utilized to determine if a sling is safe to use.
Intended Audience: Employers must use qualified riggers during hoisting activities for hooking, unhooking or guiding loads from cranes. Anyone doing such activities must be qualified by taking this OSHA course.
Topics To Be Covered Include:
Part 1 - General Practices
Part 2 - Sling Inspection: Review the following sling types and their respective tagging and general inspection requirements. Includes a demonstration of periodic inspection requirements per the current ASME B.30.9 Standard.
Part 3 - Hardware Inspection: Review basic types of rigging hardware and their respective identification requirements and proper use. Includes a demonstration of periodic inspection requirements per the current ASME B.30.10 and B.30.26 Standards.
