IICRC stands for the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). The IICRC is a certification and standard-setting non-profit organization for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industries. In partnership with regional and international trade associates, the IICRC serves more than 25 countries. Individuals must successfully complete an IICRC certified training course and achieve a passing grade on the IICRC standardized exam, taken at the conclusion of the training course.
Yes, certified individuals must earn continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain their certification.
IICRC Inspectors: Must earn 14.0 CEU hours every two years.
IICRC Technicians: Must earn 14.0 CEU hours every four years.
Advanced Certifications: Master Textile Cleaner (MTC), Master Fire and Smoke Restorer (MSR) or Master Water Restorer (MWR) must earn 14.0 CEU hours every two years.
IICRC certification designates a high level of understanding and practice in the cleaning and restoration industry, and is widely recognized by customers and industry peers. IICRC training and certification gives you the tools to build your cleaning, inspection, or restoration business with a plan for success through quality performance.
Students will be responsible for the IICRC exam fees, which can be paid in class prior to taking the exam. The fee schedule is as follows:
  • All technician exams (excluding Applied Microbial Remediation Technician): $80
  • Applied Microbial Remediation Technician: $150
  • All inspection exams: $150
  • Mold Removal Specialist (MRS): $250
  • Retest: $80
Once you are certified, annual registration with the IICRC organization is required.
Annual Registration Fees:
  • For one or two certification categories: $36
  • For three or four certification categories: $48
  • For five or more certification categories: $60
  • Master Status: $12
  • Applied Microbial Remediation Technician certification: $72
  • Credentialed inspector: $40 (no listing on “Locate a Pro” Search)
  • Practicing inspector: $96 (includes listing on “Locate a Pro” Search)
  • Certified Firm: $125
Yes, once you earn your individual IICRC certification, you can register your company as well. An initial request must be submitted to IICRC with a $25 processing fee to receive an application. This application must then be submitted to IICRC headquarters with the annual $125 registration fee. Once your company is certified it will be listed on the IICRC website as a “certified professional” and included in IICRC’s customer support referral service. IICRC Certified firms are also granted permission to use the cleantrust logo for advertising purposes.
