Why Should You Take This Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor Refresher Course?
This Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor refresher training is designed to provide review information for those individuals who perform lead-based paint inspections and/or clearance examinations on abatement and renovation projects.
This course will teach the legal obligations facing inspectors when inspecting for lead hazards, and individuals will learn to determine whether or not lead-based paint or other lead hazards are present in sufficient quantities to require abatement according to regulatory guidelines.
The Following Topics Will Be Reviewed:
Maintaining Accreditation: Licensees desiring to maintain an individual license shall satisfactorily complete the refresher training program and assure that the board receives documentation of satisfactory completion no later than the last day of the month that is 36 months after the date of completion of the initial training program or refresher training program and not less often than once each 36 months thereafter.
Third-Party Exams: In the case of a proficiency-based course completion, refresher training is required every 60 months instead of 36 months -The Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation Board shall renew an individual license for an additional 12 months upon receipt of a renewal application and fee in compliance with 18VAC15-30-163 and 18VAC15-30-165, provided that the licensee has complied with subdivision 1 of this subsection. In no case shall an individual license expire later than the last day of the month that is 36 months, or in the case of proficiency-based course 60 months, after the initial training program or most recent refresher training program was completed.
Reciprocity: There are numerous reciprocity agreements with EPA and other states with authorized lead-based paint programs. Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs. Because reciprocity agreements are subject to change, it is strongly recommended that you contact your state's accrediting body before taking training from an outside source.
