This Philadelphia EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician Certification Initial - National Lead Services course is required for the training of individuals who sample lead dust to comply with various regulatory requirements listed below. This program satisfies the requirements for the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP) for training certification. It is a special upgrade to the EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician that will emphasize the preparation of the Lead Safe Certificates required for rental units by the Philadelphia Department of Health (DOH).The course provides detailed instruction regarding the performance of visual inspections and wipe samples for lead dust as clearance testing as required by EPA’s RRP, HUD's LSHR, NJ's N.J.A.C. 5:10, and the City of Philadelphia Landlord's Certification of rental properties. Our instructors will provide various guidance documents from the DOH, discuss how to complete the Lead Safe Certificates, how to troubleshoot wipe sample failures, and other Philadelphia and NJ-specific issues.
Renovation activities that disturb lead-based paint can create dangerous lead paint dust. The purpose of lead dust clearance is to determine if the area is safe for re-occupancy. In order to ensure the safety of the tenants for any renovation project in older housing, it is highly recommended that a Dust Sampling Technician provides their services to ensure that proper lead dust cleaning procedures have been followed.

This was so helpful in so many ways. We had a good group of people who we all got along so well. But Alice was the best. She answered our questions and made sure we were clear on what we were reading and going over before we moved to the next question. It was awesome doing the on hand training as well to get us prepared for the actual testing. Instructor Alice made the class really enjoyable. It was a small class, so we were able to talk amongst ourselves more, and the class felt more personalized. She encouraged us to ask questions and if we weren’t clear on something, she was always willing to explain again, or have someone who did understand it explain it a different way that maybe we would understand. I attended the Philadelphia EPA Lead Dust Sampling Tech class and the instructor Alice was amazing. She was very knowledgeable on the subject matter and the class was very interesting. Alice demonstrated all the steps required to perform a lead dust sampling at a home. She even allowed each attendee to demonstrate the lead sampling steps using different scenarios so by the end of the class I felt very with confident about the entire process. The class was very informative and educational. The setting was in a private area with plenty of parking. From my understanding there were 5 students, of which 4 showed up. Professionals in all fields such as law enforcement-Police Lieutenant; Corrections Officer; Home Inspector and other professional. Instructor was very knowledgeable, explained the new EPA requirements for Philadelphia and most importantly-she engaged the class so it wasn't Boring!!! We had a few breaks and a light lunch was provided. After the hands on demonstrations, there was a 20 question test. It was a bit tough, but WE ALL PASSED. I would recommend this course to anyone that is looking to for secondary employment, or job enhancement skills. You can't go wrong. Certifications are good for 5 years. Our group vowed to keep in touch, so we even made a few new friends. Steven F.

I would highly recommend this course and specifically Alice. She was very professional but presented the material in a way that was enjoyable and easy to understand. The other students were also a big part of the day. She had everyone introduce themselves in the beginning and then drew from their experience whether they were realtors or home inspectors, landlords ect.

I had a very good experience at the course. The instructor was engaging. She had the practical experience needed to answer a lot of questions the students had. She also allowed the students to discuss openly during the class. I would definitely recommend this program again. This may be a required 8 hour class but I believe it can be shorten.
