The purpose of this Fundamentals of Infection Control for the Healthcare Contractor course is to introduce and review the factors regarding Infection Control, emerging infectious diseases, air and waterborne pathogens, MRSA and exposure risks during construction for healthcare facilities. Critical updates for ICRA 2.0 will be reviewed. 

This course addresses the serious issue of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) as it pertains to the professional working in the healthcare environment. Students learn about the various high risk quadrants in the hospital setting, vulnerable patient populations, and employee exposure risks during real work time. The professional develops an understanding of ICRA/PCRA/ILSM and how it affects their profession from a performance standpoint, meeting compliance requirements for the healthcare environment, client retention, and legal risk. It includes the updated requirements for wet OR’s, TJC and CMS new requirements for emergency preparedness, and bloodborne pathogens.

This 2 day workshop is the ONLY course in the USA written from the clinical perspective and provides actual case studies from the hospital perspective. 

This is the most comprehensive course which gives the student the CFHC Critical Facilities Health Care Accreditation which is renewed in two years. The Instructor is both an architect and a Registered Nurse which provides inside experience from the hospital perspective and teaches best practices for means and methodologies. The student learns how to recognize potential risk areas, the ICRA matrix and ways to implement safety, containment and barrier integrity  that is required by the healthcare industry. It is THE most prestigious achievent for ICRA and  is highly respected by the healthcare industry. The CFHC ICRA accreditation should be used when submitting qualifications for job bidding in healthcare and other industries if cross contamination is of concern.


At the end of the program, there will be a final course exam.

About The Presenter

Marlene Linders is the President and CEO of Philders Group International Inc., a healthcare consulting firm. She holds a degree in architecture, nursing science and a Master’s degree in science. She is a National Speaker on Infectious Diseases, and one of two women in the USA that are Distinguished Lecturers (DL) for ASHRAE. Ms. Linders, as a DL for ASHRAE, went on a global speaking program about infection control, cross contamination, and its impact on the patient population during construction.

Ms. Linders is also the Executive Director for The Linders Health Institute™ which addresses safety, compliance and exposure risks during construction of healthcare buildings and the built environment.

Ms. Linders has several years of extensive expertise in development and understanding of construction and design for building systems. She was instrumental in policy safety program changes for infection control during construction for Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  She has also worked on designing high-risk environments as Surgical Suites, LTC, and Transplant for several Level One trauma centers costing in excess of $4 billion dollars. Her former company, PLI Inc, wrote the first Indoor Air Quality online curriculum course for the University of Florida Rinker School of Construction. Ms. Linders has written several white papers and articles on pandemics and emerging infectious diseases regarding the built environment, including a series on infection control for Kimberly Clark Worldwide now called Halyard. Additionally, she is a published author for the ASHRAE Journal and Long Term Care.
