The Understanding Construction Contracting Principles - 3 Hour course teaches students the fundamentals of contract law, tort law and drafting contracts. Along with learning how to settle disputes, they will also discover the importance of intellectual property law for designers. In the course's exhibits section, estimates, designs and notices are covered.
Students are given explanations of the Consumer Notice Form (ORS 701.330), the Notice of Procedure for Residential Construction Arbitrations and Lawsuits (ORS 701.330) and the Notice to Owner about Construction Liens (ORS 87.093). In addition to the Contract Addendum, the Typical Construction Contracts Clauses section of this course covers topics like owner cancellation, insurance requirements, permits, change orders, statement of errors, indemnity, limitation of liability, retainer vs. retainage, payments from contractor to subcontractor, and payments from owner to contractor in order to comply with OAR 812-012-0110's contract term requirements.
