The IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician section of the course concentrates on technical procedures for successfully completing the restoration of a fire and smoke damaged environment. The Odor Control Technician section covers how to address odors caused by a range of biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, mold, combustion sources, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.

Part 1: IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT)
This IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) course concentrates on technical procedures for successfully completing the restoration of a fire and smoke damaged environment. Students will learn how to combine technical procedures with a practical approach to managing the job site and how that relates to pricing the job.

Part 2: IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT)
This IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT) course covers olfaction and odor, odor sources, detection process, theory of odor control, equipment, chemical options, and applications. The student will learn how to address odors caused by biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, and mold, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.

- Chemical options and applications
- Sanitize, disinfect, enzyme, and sealants
- Vapor diffusion technology
- Antimicrobials, 'pairing agents', and deodorizers and how to use them

I enjoyed the class. Our instructor, Bruce, was great. He presented the materials in a way that we could understand. He made himself available to us before and after class so that we never felt like we did not have every opportunity to understand what he was presenting. The only suggestion I would make is in regards to the study materials. We received the materials the afternoon before the class asking us to print these out before class. I wish I had more time for that as each manual was large and wasn't something I could print at home. I left me scrambling the night before to find a Staples to print the pages. Other than that, I would give the class a 10 stars Nicholas C.
