This IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT) course covers olfaction and odor, odor sources, detection process, theory of odor control, equipment, chemical options and applications. The student will learn how to address odors caused from biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, and mold, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.

- Sanitize, disinfect, enzyme, and sealants
- Vapor diffusion technology
- Antimocrobials, 'pairing agents', and deodorizers and how to use them

- Fuel Oil Spills
- Volatile Organic Chemicals
Chemical Sources:
- Efficient Wand Strokes
- Labor Saving Tricks
- Grooming

Continuing Education: The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry. IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.
Please Note: Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.

As an Insurance Adjuster looking to expand the knowledge I was apprehensive however after enrolling and getting to the class I found the instructor was very knowledgeable and prepared to teach on the subject. Good and needed class though I wish there were more hands-on or specifics regarding specific common odor treatment. A demo of the various tools used...especially around removal of smoke odor. We discussed it - but even showing some videos even of the specific steps etc. of these things would be good. The videos used in class (like the bodily fluids safety ) are very old and dated and need to be updated. The promo video for IICRC already appears dated and wasn't particularly well scripted to begin with. A good deal of the material was covered in the water restoration class already so branching off specifically into odor problem and resolution with detailed steps might bring some meat back to the course.
